چکیده

The cultivation of perennial wild plant mixtures (WPMs) is becoming increasingly important in Germany for providing sustainably produced bioenergy. However, energy cropping systems always raise the question how to reclaim land arable crops. This study examined this issue by looking at a former WPM area was returned an organic farm. From 2013 2018, harvested annually autumn. 2019 2020, it co-managed with surrounding as semi-intensive grassland under three-cut regime. then ploughed spring 2021 grow silage maize. Weeds were controlled mechanically once. Nevertheless, species grew vigorously, common tansy (Tanacetum vulgare L.) standing out total fresh matter share 29.0%. maize–WPM mixture achieved dry yield 15.5 ± 5.5 Mg ha−1, which notably but not significantly (p < 0.05) lower than that maize growing next (23.4 ha−1). After maize, winter wheat sown autumn and further regrowth observed 2022. Yield quality effects must therefore be given special consideration first crop following cultivation.

Variation in volatile compounds from tansy (Tanacetum vulgare L.) related to genetic and morphological differences of genotypes.

Air-dried flower heads of 20 Finnish tansy genotypes were extracted with petroleum ether and analyzed using GC-MS. A total of 55 volatile compounds were detected, and 53 were identified. Of the tansy genotypes studied, 15 were well defined and five were mixed chemotypes. Complete linkage analysis differentiated the populations into six clusters. The most frequently found monoterpene was camphor...

Antioxidant principles of Tanacetum vulgare L. aerial parts.

The methanolic extract of aerial parts of Tanacetum vulgare L. (Asteraceae) and its fractions were investigated for antioxidant activity. The crude extract displayed DPPH radical scavenging effects with an EC50 value of 37 +/- 1.2 microg/mL (n=3). Activity-guided fractionations of the crude extract resulted in the isolation of three antioxidant compounds; 3,5-O-dicaffeoylquinic acid (3,5-DCQA),...

Immunomodulatory activity of acidic polysaccharides isolated from Tanacetum vulgare L.

Tanacetum vulgare L. (Tansy) has been extensively used in folk medicine for treatment of a variety of medical disorders. In the present study, we isolated and purified four acidic polysaccharide fractions (designated T-I to T-IV) from Tansy florets by the sequential use of hot-water extraction, ethanol precipitation, ultra-filtration, anion-exchange, and size-exclusion chromatography. The avera...

Exploiting Wild Relatives for Genomics-assisted Breeding of Perennial Crops

Perennial crops are vital contributors to global food production and nutrition. However, the breeding of new perennial crops is an expensive and time-consuming process due to the large size and lengthy juvenile phase of many species. Genomics provides a valuable tool for improving the efficiency of breeding by allowing progeny possessing a trait of interest to be selected at the seed or seedlin...
